"Sinophone" cultures, a theoretical framework pioneered by the scholar Shu-mei Shih as a long-overdue alternative to the discourses of "Chinese" and "Chinese diaspora" that have traditionally defined Chinese Studies, has taken the field by storm, providing a rich theoretical rubric for examining the diverse origins and audiences for cultural production related to Chinese peoples and communities worldwide. Yet to date, none of the many ensuing critical discussions of "Sinophonicity" have addressed its interplay with Queer Studies. This book provides a timely theoretical exposition of where the liminal spheres of Queer Studies and Chinese Studies overlap.
