Summary
The twelfth edition of Schermerhorn's Management has undergone another thorough and comprehensive revision. Based on market trends, the book has been revised to include numerous enhancements. There is greater coverage of Sustainability and the Environment, and of hot topics such as Social Networking (related to management), Ethics and Leadership. The Ethics chapter, which was moved up early with 11e is still positioned in front to reflect the importance of this topic especially with the current economic situation. The Environment and Innovation chapter is now named Environment, Sustainability, and Innovation and includes a greater section on the various forms of sustainability and the green movement to reflect this current area of interest. The book has one or two continuing/integrated cases that also reflect current trends (such as non-for-profits) at the end of each part. Further in keeping with recent Management trends, the 12th edition offers even greater information on the changing nature of communication (and managing) via technology. There is an updated section in the HR material on the numerous legal changes over the last few years. A new Facts to Consider feature has been added to each chapter to provide students with additional information on key topics. The author has revised the chapter opener spread to be more inviting and interesting for students with new lead-in questions and end-of-chapter follow-back-up questions to tie everything together. A new Next Steps feature will encourage students to do more writing by having them focus on how concepts and pieces of information link/connect together.
