After being introduced to the materials to be used in the projects, the reader will be given an introduction into how poetry (or prose or journaling) will be used throughout the book to inspire the stepped-out art projects. The author will begin each project with a writing prompt, such as a quick haiku or a list of self attributes. From there, a mixed media project will be stepped out, each offering a unique technique such as an easy way to create a face, carving shapes from cardboard or making a journal with plaster and encaustic pages. At the end of each project, the author will offer a Giving Back Idea--a suggestion on taking the theme of the project a step further to support a cause, surprise a loved one, send an anonymous uplifting note and more.
