In The Ages of the Rat, winner of the Fnac-Salamandra Graphic International Prize for Graphic Novels, Martín López Lam draws the story of Isidoro, a man who emigrated from Lima to Europe who aspires to be a writer, and Manuela, a Peruvian who only aspires to survive, two stories that speak of longing and the inevitability of chance as only good literature does.
This is the most mature and solid work by Martín López Lam, the illustrative ability of the author is put at the service of a narrative dealing with expatriation and uprooting, and where there is space for a new generation of magical realism that overarches the entire story.
