Summary

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A rebellious woman. An uncertain future.

And an unreachable dream: to conquer the theater stages of Barcelona.

Barcelona 1909. Sisters Francisca and Maria Romero arrive in the city during the Tragic Week to work as servants in the home of the Puig’s, a wealthy family of Catalan bourgeoisie. In the streets, laborers fight for more dignified working conditions, while the upper class clings to its privileges. Francisca has a strong character but a mind full of fairy tales, she dreams of being an artist and having a freer and more exciting life than the one that society has destined her. She will soon meet Joan, a young anarchist who will win her heart and will show her the bright lights and magic of the Avenue of the Parallel.

But an ill-fated event shakes the soul of the Romero sisters and pushes Francisca to pursue her dream: to become the queen of the Avenue of the Parallel theaters. Francisca will soon find her place and she will learn to play with her loyalties in a revolutionary Barcelona and in full theatrical boom. She will get to know the darkest side of the city, will experience humiliation, loneliness, betrayal, and an impossible love that will mark her life forever. But she will never give up on her dream.

In a time when women did not even have the right to vote, Francisca will always be a free woman.
