Tessa, a “shipsider” genetically unsuited for life on the gravity-bound colony of Newest York, faces a future where her body—and her very existence—are a liability. Defying expectations, she becomes the voice of resistance for the marginalized shipsiders, those unwilling to sacrifice themselves for a planet-bound dream. With its Shakespearean echoes of King Lear and The Tempest, That Fatal Discontent dives into the storm of ambition, betrayal, and loyalty. As the ship hurtles toward its planetary destination, Tessa must fight to save herself and her people from being erased in the name of progress. Will humanity’s quest for a new world leave room for those who dream differently, or will they be cast aside as the price of ambition?
