Summary

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A Brief History of the Damn World.

Nobody had dared to write the history of this damn world with the famous and caustic humor of Daniel Samper Pizano, which makes you laugh but also leaves you feeling slightly uneasy. Now it is here: from the Big Bang to an ominous prediction of what awaits us. Where does the joke begin and where does reality end? Not even he knows for sure. These are some notes from this universal treatise:

• Everything began with one single cell more than five billion years ago, and look at the condition we're in.
• The Egyptians have always lived in Egypt, which is quite a feat considering the diarrhea that their tap water produces.
• The places that American drones are now attacking were once attacked by Alexander the Great on horseback.
• Since da Vinci, a man who dabbles in many trades is called a "Renaissance Man", or "Middle-class Dad".
• What finished off the French Revolution was a fixation on calling the months bizarre names that nobody could remember.
• Darwin maintained that men are descended from apes, but yet the apes didn't complain about that.
• Capital is a key book, although most people who cite it haven't read it, and most people who have read it didn't understand it.
• In 1975, both Franco and Spain went on to a better place.
• When the energy of the sun burns out, there will be the most amazing spectacle in space, but there won't be anyone around to enjoy it.
