Julia Ockert is an artist and designer based in Canberra, Australia, who specializes in painting and oil pastel artworks. Julia came across oil pastels in 2022 and was instantly hooked, drawn to their texture, vibrant colors and inherent fun-ness. She had been painting realistically for years and discovering a medium that gave her works a semi-impressionist style was liberating. Since using oil pastels, her style has changed but some things remain constant - bright, warm colors, pleasing compositions and the primary aim of delighting her audience.

Playful and nostalgic subjects ranging from floral still lifes to interior scenes are often explored in Julia's work. Through her art, Julia aims to capture stillness and to encourage a sense of comfort in her audience. Art is not just a creative outlet for her, but a means to connect with and inspire others. Julia shares her artwork on her Instagram, where she has more than 100k engaged followers, and runs her own business, selling art prints, originals and gifts.
