This book allows the reader to develop a conceptual understanding of homeland security law and to know the framework we have established to address "all hazards," both terrorism and natural disasters. The book covers the complexity of designing the legal framework for homeland security law. The best example of this is in the Critical Infrastructure Protection Chapter, which has approximately 25 sources. Recognize that homeland security involves many specialties and that homeland security law is the unifying core and view homeland security expansively and in the long-term. Finally one of the special features of the book is its topic-by-topic approach. For example, the Homeland Security Act is hundreds of pages long and touches upon many subjects. In this book's unique format, each chapter is titled and contains information about a specific subject, and includes only those portions of the various documents and statutes that affect that particular subject. Thus, the chapter on FEMA contains the portions of the statutes and other documents that relate to FEMA.The book is split into 21 chapters that cover a wide range of topics including: National Security Strategy, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Agriculture and Food, Emergency Preparedness and Response, and Future Steps
