These selected reading from the updated first edition of the Treatise on Geochemistry will serve as supplements for students in General Geochemistry courses, and to introduce professionals to the field of geochemistry. Spanning the entire range of geochemistry represented in the Treatise, the volume begins with an exploration of the geochemistry of the Solar System and the Earth in particular, including the composition of the crust, mantle, and core, and the emplacement of the atmosphere and oceans. Also covered are Earth Surface processes, including soil formation and the geochemistry of rivers and groundwater, and oceanic processes, including the marine carbonate cycle and the effects of marine hydrothermal systems on the chemistry and biology of the oceans.
