A few years ago, authors Miriam Smith and Afton Fraser were looking for a book for their grandson and son, respectively,a young boy with autism. They easily found books for everyone related to the child with autism-parents, siblings,friends, teachers, therapists-but few books for the child himself. They decided to change that, envisioning a beautifulpicture book to entertain the child, with a pointer attached to enhance the therapeutic process. Point!, the first picture book with an attached pointer created for children with ASD, is the book they dreamed of. Written in consultation with autism expert Toni Giannone, a speech pathologist who has been the director of two schools for students with ASD, and has recently founded her own school, The Speech Academy.
