Ruth Bridgeman draws on her experience of designing collections of organic and freeform items to guide readers through the process of making and creating their own home items. Taking an experimental approach, Ruth combines traditional stitches and in some cases invents new stitches herself to create beautiful fabrics that can adorn many different items around the home, from dining chairs to stools, a chaise longue to a slipper chair, mug cosies to vase covers. Throughout there are part patterns and full patterns for a variety of unusual designs for projects around the home. Part patterns give the stitch instructions for the reader to adapt as they like to create unique items. Full patterns are totally prescriptive and give complete directions for how to produce a particular finished item. Help and suggestions are also given as to how to adapt these patterns to different sizes, scales and shapes so that they can be widely applied around the home.
