Summary

Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards forced his mansion staff--all convicted murderers--to "slave" for him in order to receive pardons. This is the inside story of one such "slave," Forrest Martin, who was sentenced to life in Angola State Penitentiary. Not only was he innocent, but he never had a trial and never pled guilty. The former high school football star served ten years of his sentence before being released. His story includes an underground boxing ring, being forced out of the law library by prison employees, and the corruption he witnessed at the Governor's mansion where he worked in exchange for a pardon.
