She was named Executive Editorial Director of Poppy, an imprint which she launched at Little, Brown and Company, and was responsible for its acquisitions, development, editing, production, cover and interior designs, strategic planning, author care, and brand development. Mary E. Gruetzke has written and edited a variety of titles for several publishing houses. She has been an Executive Editor at Scholastic and Senior Editor at Bloomsbury Children’s Books/Walker Books for Young Readers, and has had further experience at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and HarperCollins Children’s Books. She has teacher certification for elementary grades and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
