Recreate the chic knitwear worn onscreen by a galaxy of Hollywood stars! Using designer Bill Gibb’s easy-to-follow patterns, vintage- and movie-loving knitters can make 20 iconic garments with today’s yarns. The classic sweaters include Dorothy Lamour’s figure-hugging beaded number, Judy Garland’s fluffy embroidered cardigan, and elegantly sporty styles donned by Cary Grant for cricket and Gary Cooper while skiing. In addition to the patterns, the collection includes a section with knitting basics and glamorous pictures of the legendary actors in the original sweaters.
Bill Gibb was a renowned Scottish fashion designer who specialized in knitwear. He often collaborated with his friend Kaffe Fassett, and was known for his colorful and sometimes fantastical designs. Gibb’s work is represented in the permanent collection of many museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He was featured in the Fashion and Textile Museum's exhibition KNITWEAR! Chanel to Westwood in autumn 2014. He died in 1988.
