Since their first application, totally implantable venous access devices have been some of the most used devices. From the original indication for oncological patients, their utilization has spread, and many others medical fields are now involved. To date, the choice of implant is not well defined and implantation should be performed. This volume is an update on the evolution of the indications for implantation and the associated increases in complications and costs, which in turn are related to the skills of the operator.
