Stephen J. Wayne is a well-known author and lecturer on American presidents and the presidency. A professor of government at Georgetown University since 1988 and a Washington-based "insider" for more than 40 years, Wayne has written or edited 11 books, many in multiple editions, and has authored more than 100 articles, chapters, and reviews that have appeared in professional journals, scholarly compilations, newspapers, and magazines. Among his best-known works are The Road to the White House, in its eighth edition, which includes an epilogue on the 2008 nomination process, and Presidential Leadership, Eighth Edition (with George Edwards), to be published in 2010. He is currently working on a psychologically oriented manuscript, tentatively titled A Question of Character: Obama in the Presidency. Book jacket.
