Summary

A lavishly illustrated book on the close relationship between de Lempicka's art and the world of fashion. Tamara de Lempicka (May 16, 1898March 18, 1980)an icon of the Jazz Age and Art Deco stylewas the first woman artist to be a glamour star and a fashion icon in her own lifetime. The impetus for this book arose after finding some rare photographs in which Tamara de Lempicka posed as a model for a French fashion magazine. These imagestogether with her work for the German magazine Die Dame, the photos of her signed "Madame D'Ora," and her paintings in which women are dressed in clothes inspired by Schiaparelli, Vionnet, and Gresconfirm the close relationship between de Lempicka's art and the world of fashion, and her ties with certain fashion designers previously ignored. Divided into four chapters, the book offers a complete reference to the subject: 1. Fashion in the paintings of Tamara de Lempicka; 2. Tamara de Lempicka, photographer's model: favorite fashion designers; 3. Tamara de Lempicka: "fashion victim"; 4. Fashion from Tamara de Lempicka. This fourth chapter is dedicated to contemporary fashion designers who have been inspired by her paintings (Ralph Lauren, Sarli, Versace). It will become a must-have for fashion designers, fashion lovers, and fashion victims.
