Lora Avedian is a textile artist and designer specialising in embroidery and embellishment, she works from her studio in South West London. She studied Embroidery at BA level at Manchester School of Art and finished her MA in Mixed-Media Textiles at the Royal College of Art in London in 2017. Her practice is based around translating her drawings and collage work into stitch, using a variety of different mediums and techniques. Her work is heavily inspired by nature, and folk art, as well as antique textiles and objects she collects. Lora depicts elements of narrative through her embroidery to make modern artefacts, which look as beautiful on the body as they do on a wall.

Lora has made couture textiles for interiors, arts and fashion, She has worked freelance for Tracey Emin, Alexander McQueen and JW Anderson. She sells her interior textiles through The New Craftsmen and is about to launch a range of scarves at Fortnum & Mason in London. Lora has collaborated with Barbican Centre and Howe London on large scale projects, taking her work from cloth into shop fronts and large-scale displays. She has showcased her work at London Craft week and London Design Festival and has run workshops in at Barbican Centre, Royal Academy of Arts, Chateau Dumas, and Leighton House Museum to name a few. This is her first book.
