Step inside the most inspiring Scandinavian gardens and celebrate their joyful, diverse, and creative approach to garden design.

Scandinavian Gardens brings together 26 remarkable gardens—both grand and intimate, historic and contemporary—from Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

Personally selected from the pages of cutting edge Swedish garden magazine Trädgårdsliv, these gardens are united by thoughtful design and a deep connection to place.

Inside, you’ll explore:

• Beautifully photographed private gardens, palace grounds, allotments, rooftop gardens, and country estates.
• Gardens by acclaimed designers as well as devoted amateur gardeners.
• A rich mix of traditional and modern Scandinavian garden styles.
• Feature essays on key themes in Nordic garden history and culture, including Carl Linnaeus and the Scandinavian allotment movement.
• Insights into how traditions, climate, and landscape influence planting and design choices.

Written and photographed by Trädgårdsliv founder, Klas Kihlberg, this book offers both visual pleasure and practical inspiration.

Whether you garden in a city, the countryside, or simply dream from afar, Scandinavian Gardens invites you to gather ideas, moods, and approaches to create a garden that works beautifully for you.

Klas Kihlberg is the chief editor and publisher of the Swedish garden magazine ”Trädgårdsliv” (i.e. Garden life in Swedish). Since 2007 he has published the magazine in Sweden and Scandinavia.
