The SAM has four major divisions: (1) a laboratory section that includes listening-comprehension activities and oral exercises for review and reinforcement of the grammatical concepts presented in each unit; (2) controlled and open-ended written activities reviewing the unit's vocabulary and grammatical structures; (3) creative, written activities giving the student the opportunity to work with the unit's vocabulary and grammar in a more creative, personalized way; (4) a writing section presenting and practicing a writing strategy as a follow-up to the writing opportunity in the core text. The Answer key for these exercises and the Lab Audio script are on the instructor website to give instructors the choice of offering students the opportunity for immediate self-correction.
