Summary

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Nighttime Prayers is a crime novel. Nighttime Prayers is a love story. Manuel, a philosophy student from Colombia, is accused of drug trafficking and is detained in a Bangkok prison. Thai law is clear: the penalty for drug trafficking is death. The Colombian ambassador in New Delhi is in charge of communicating with the prisoner about his options, and of trying to fulfill the only wish he seems to have: finding his sister Juana, who disappeared in Colombia years before. The ambassador finds her, and Juana describes the rise of paramilitarism during Uribe's term, the drama of the people who went missing, and the origin of her rage and fierce determination to make things change. The saga of Juana's search for a new future takes her on a wild ride, from Tokyo to Tehran, and from prostitution to marriage. Manuel and the ambassador follow her evasive but firm steps, in an attempt to restore justice, even if it might be too late
