Lawrence en México. Lawrence en Oaxaca. Esa es la obsesión de Fernando Alday, el asesino confeso de Irene Dávila Cienfuegos, la prostituta a quien amó y a quien va a asesinar 25 años más tarde, luego de abandonar a su mujer y sus dos hijos en Estados Unidos.

Nudo de alacranes es la espeluznante confesión de un crimen pasional, pero también la historia de otra pasión irredenta: la del escritor británico D. H. Lawrence por México, por Frieda von Richtofen, por la literatura y por un sueño que acarició toda su vida: crear una colonia de artistas en algún sitio lejano, un falansterio de intelectuales afines, amigos que quisieran dejarlo todo para seguirlo en su peregrinaje y su locura, esa que, cien años más tarde, mueve a Fernando a crear su propia comuna -su ashram del amor- en el centro de Oaxaca.

Abandonar la civilización y sus costumbres, perderse en la barbarie, romper con las normas sociales que constriñen al ser humano... Nudo de alacranes destruye todo tipo de instituciones: el matrimonio, la familia, el trabajo, la religión...  Con estos elementos, Urroz entrelaza dos historias: la del escritor D. H. Lawrence -históricamente fidedigna y bien documentada- y la de Fernando Alday, quien acaso tenga mucho más del propio autor.

Knot of Scorpions is the horrifying confession of a crime of passion, but also the story of another unredeemed passion: that of British writer D. H. Lawrence for Mexico, for Frieda von Richtofen, for literature and for a dream that he held his whole life: to create an artists’ colony in some far-off place, a phalanstery of kindred intellectuals, friends who want to leave it all to follow him on his pilgrimage and his madness; that idea which, one hundred years later, moves Fernando to create his own commune—his ashram of love—in the center of Oaxaca.

Abandoning civilization and its customs, losing oneself in barbarity, breaking the social norms that constrain human beings… Knot of Scorpions destroys all types of institutions: marriage, family, work, religion… with these elements, Urroz interweaves two stories: that of D. H. Lawrence—historically accurate and well-documented—and that of Fernando Alday, who might be more like the author himself.
