Summary

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A novel that narates a crucial moment in the history of the Peninsula.

Barcinona, current Barcelona, year 415. Clodia, an aristocrat lady, lives with great intensity both her love for history and books and her hatred for Roman patriarchal society and the triumph of Christianity. She fights for her freedoms, she confines herself in her library, lives passionate romances, and enjoys sex with anyone that is not her hateful husband Minicio. All of this allows her to breathe in a suffocating mediocre environment full of hypocrisy and misgivings.

It is in this joyful ambiance of festivals and false appearances that the Goths break into, settling in for the first time in Hispania, altering all order set forth by Rome. While the powerful locals try to survive the change of era and the Goth leaders face their rivals, a series of deaths within the walls of Barcinona, including that of King Ataulfo, increasingly worry its citizens. These are troubling times and anyone can be the murderer.

The clash between Romans and Goths, Clodia’s desire for freedom, the rise of Christianity, and power conspiracies introduce the reader to this fascinating historical thriller that is also a great literary fresco about ambition and betrayals.
