Justin Narayan draws on his Fijian-Indian heritage and his multicultural upbringing in Australia to create over 90 recipes that are familiar, exciting and above all easy, and take influences from all over the world.

Justin Narayan's Fijian-Indian heritage shaped his penchant for creating beautiful food and community around the table. While his skills in the kitchen are versatile, it's his background that has perfected his love of Indian flavors. He may draw inspiration from chefs like Gaggan Anand and Gordon Ramsey, but really, it's his mom, Sunita, who Justin claims is hands down the best cook he knows. Justin was 13 years old when he started cooking. Mealtime was family time and one of his favorite memories was watching cooking shows with his Patti (grandma) and Tatha (grandpa). Justin decided to give his passion for cooking a go by entering MasterChef Australia 2021. It was a journey of growth where he was really challenged to learn new skills, grow in knowledge, and explore a wild variety of methods and flavors. It was this growth, his calm demeanor under pressure and finding the fun in most situations that saw him take home the title of Australia's 2021 MasterChef. He is now making his food his career including cooking classes, take-away tacos and upcoming restaurant ventures.
