Bernard M. Bass is Distinguished Professor of Management Emeritus and Founding Director of the Center for Leadership Studies at Binghamton University, State University of New York. Dr. Bass is the author of over 300 articles and 24 books concentrating on leadership, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Between 1952 and the present, he has been the principal investigator on numerous federal, state, and private foundation research grants.  He was the founding Editor of The Leadership Quarterly, and he has consulted with and conducted training for many of the Fortune 500 firms and has lectured or conducted workshops in over 40 countries. Professor Bass is also a Senior Scientist for the Gallup Organization and a member of the Board of Governors for the Kravis Leadership Institute.
For the past 25 years, Professor Bass has focused much of his research on transformational leadership and management development. In 1994, he received the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions. In 1997, he was honored by the Society for Psychology in Management with the annual Lifetime Award for the Practice of Psychology in Management. 
Ronald E. Riggio is the Henry R. Kravis Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology and Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College. He has served on the faculties of the University of California, San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and California State University, Fullerton. Professor Riggio is the author of over 100 books, book chapters, and research articles in the areas of leadership, organizational psychology, and social psychology. His research work has included published studies on empathy, social intelligence, and the role of social skills and emotions in leadership potential and leadership success. In addition to his 30 years of teaching courses in organizational psychology and related areas, Professor Riggio has been an organizational consultant to numerous private and public sector organizations, including several Fortune 500 companies. Riggio is an Associate Editor of The Leadership Quarterly and is on the editorial boards of Leadership and Leadership Review.
