Douglas J. Simpson is the author of John Dewey and a coauthor of John Dewey and the Art of Teaching: Toward Reflective and Imaginative Practice. He holds the Helen DeVitt Jones Chair in Teacher Education in the department of curriculum and instruction at Texas Tech University.
Sam F. Stack Jr. is a professor of social and cultural foundations of education at WestVirginia University. He is the author of Elsie Ripley Clapp (1879–1965): Her Life and the Community School.
