This book explores the reinterpretations of Poland's past which have been undertaken by Polish national and local elites since the fall of communism. It focuses on commemoration, memorials, monuments and the creation of ideologies, identities and myths and on the de-commemorating of communism. The book outlines the detail of the new national myths which are being established, examines how different actors have different approaches, and discusses the huge impact, both with Poland, and dinternationally, which these new national identities potentially have, including the revival of Poland's nationalist ambitions for a Greater Poland.
