This book focuses on the political impact of extreme-right parties on immigration politics and policy. Drawing on critical discourse analysis of political speeches alongside content analysis of party manifestos and examination of opinion polls it traces the development of national immigration policies and explores the extent to which extreme-right parties affect the opinions, platforms and policies of citizens, moderate parties and government. It features detailed case studies of the UK, France and Italy as three mature multi-party democracies where the extreme right was on the rise during the past decade.
