Jonathan W. Valvano received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in 1977 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Engineering in 1981 from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He has been a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin since 1981.
