The fundamental contribution of this work is that a textbook on sustainability and business must capture and reflect the fundamental holistic nature of sustainability. While the ultimate goal is to inform students on corporate strategy in the face of sustainability issues, it is essential that students understand the environment in which such strategic decisions must be made. This environment is conditioned, if not driven, by the actions of competitors and, in particular, the policies of government. These policies are, in turn, influenced by economics, political factors and ecological science. All are included to achieve a truly integrated textbook.
