The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) is beginning pursuit of recognition of Addiction Medicine as a board-certified medical specialty, as defined by the American Board of Medical Specialties, the official body that accredits specialties. ASAM has taken the first step by establishing an independent American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). This review and self-exam book consists of multiple-choice questions and answers, with explanations, that mimic the nature of subjects and questions that appear on the annual certification exam.
